OutFit at Volunteer Park: Our Free Community Class Wrap-Up

For eight weeks, Saturday mornings at Volunteer Park sounded like this: straps clipped to the fence, kettlebells set out on the grass, and forty-something people from all over Plantation counting down the last ten seconds of a round together. That was our free community class, run in partnership with Plantation Parks & Recreation — and as of this month, the eight-week run has officially wrapped.

No membership, no signup, no catch. Just a full OutFit workout in a public park, coached for every level, completely free. Here's what it looked like, what came out of it, and what we're planning for the fall.

What Eight Weeks in a Public Park Looked Like

The format never changed, and that was the point. Every week we pulled the OutFit Mobile Studio up by the playground, set up TRX straps, kettlebells, slam balls, power bags, and bands, and ran one hour of coached stations. Every exercise had three progression levels, so a first-timer who hadn't worked out since high school and a marathoner deep in training did the same class, scaled to their own straps.

Coach Marina led the series, and the crowd was exactly what we hoped for: neighbors who walked over from a few streets away, parents who brought their kids to the playground and jumped in, pickleball players cross-training between matches, and plenty of people who had driven past a class in one of Plantation's parks and finally decided to try it.

A few things we learned. Free removes the biggest barrier — not cost, but commitment. People will try something new on a Saturday morning when nothing is asked of them. Outdoors removes the second one; nobody feels watched in a park the way they do in a mirrored studio. And an hour is the right length: long enough to feel like real training, short enough that it fits into a weekend.

Fall Dates Are Coming Soon

The eight-week series is done, but the partnership isn't. We're working with Plantation Parks & Recreation on fall dates now, and we'll post them on our events page and Instagram the moment they're locked in. Volunteer Park, by the playground, same free format.

In the meantime, you don't have to wait. Our regular outdoor classes run all week at Pine Island Park and Plantation Central Park — mornings, evenings, Saturday at 8 AM, and HYROX-style training on Sunday. Your first class is free, no credit card, so if the community class was your on-ramp, this is the next step.

And if you were one of the people who showed up on those Saturdays: thank you. That crew is the reason we do this outside.

FAQs: The Volunteer Park Community Class

Is the free Saturday 11 AM class at Volunteer Park still running?
No — the eight-week community class series at Volunteer Park has concluded. We're working with Plantation Parks & Recreation on new fall dates and will announce them on our events page as soon as they're confirmed.
When will the free community class come back?
Fall 2026. Dates are being finalized with Plantation Parks & Recreation now. Follow @outfittraining_ftl on Instagram or check our events page for the announcement.
Can I still try OutFit for free in the meantime?
Yes. Your first class is always free at any regularly scheduled OutFit class — no credit card required. We run classes all week at Pine Island Park and Plantation Central Park, including Saturday at 8 AM and HYROX-style training Sunday at 8:30 AM.
Where do OutFit classes meet now?
Pine Island Park (mall-entrance side, by the playground off Perimeter Road) and Plantation Central Park (AM classes by the Aquatic Center, PM classes by Soccer Field 1, plus the south lot by the basketball and pickleball courts). Exact pins are on our locations page.
What should I bring to an outdoor class?
Water and your own towel. We bring all the equipment in the OutFit Mobile Studio and provide wipes, and all of our locations are near well-maintained restrooms. Classes run rain or shine — only lightning cancels.
